A Transgender Woman on the Internet, Crying
Avis O’Hara (@theDIYDoll) is the most fabulous and famous trans influencer on the internet. Cutting-edge, left-tube vlogger Corrin Verbeck has had enough. Determined to expose Avis as a comphet, bio-essentialist, TERF-lite traitor, Corrin pretends to befriend her – but the plan backfires spectacularly… when Corrin falls in love.
This hilarious and unexpected lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers odyssey is a hyperpop musical about what it means to be the “right kind of trans”. But in the chaotic, nuance-free world of the internet, can love triumph over heartbreak, rage and the feistiest “am I allowed to laugh” internet takes you’ve ever seen?
Following acclaimed concert presentations at Adelaide Cabaret Festival and the Hayes Festival of New Work, A Transgender Woman on the Internet, Crying arrives kicking and dancing as a full production. Don’t miss this fierce, funny and poignant exploration of identity, community and the transformative power of the trans community.
Featuring a thrilling talented trans and genderdiverse cast including Cassie Hamilton (Satranic Panic) and Blake Appelqvist (Fangirls, Juliet The Musical), and directed by Jean Tong (Flat Earthers: The Musical, Heartbreak High), this musical promises a high-octane, and heartwarming experience unlike any other. We’re proud to present a Trans and Gender Diverse Night for the Saturday 28 March performance. This is a community night, exclusively for trans and gender diverse communities.
